City Harvest Church is a relationally centered church that meets in congregational gatherings for the purpose of equipping and casting vision and small groups (called House Churches) for the purpose of building one another up and partaking in evangelism. We believe that gathering corporately is vital but not as an end in itself. We gather for the purpose of empowering people for service in their workplace, their families and in small group ministry.
Why House Churches?
Because of our view of Church:
- The Church is described by the Apostle Paul as a body. It is made up of diverse parts and each part is composed of cells.
- The church is God’s people, the "called out ones" who are being built-up and gathered for ministry. The church is not a building.
- The House Church provides greater opportunity and creativity for ministry.
- The church becomes a community of people connected relationally.
- Ministry is done by many.
- Ministry expressions have no limitations. They are not limited to ushering, choir, and children’s ministry.
- More leaders are developed.
- The church is able to shepherd and care for more people.
- Every member is important.
- More opportunity for the Holy Spirit to sovereignly lead and work.
- Church becomes simple.
- Greater accountability among the members of the church.
