A Bible Overview curriculum that provides God's people with a full picture of the Father's will and work in this world.

Bethel Bible Series

The Bethel Bible Series combines our biblical mandate with our value on the Bible and is an excellent tool to enhance biblical literacy.  The study uses a historical approach to the Hebrew-Christian heritage of faith with an overview of the Old and New Testaments.  Hermeneutics, the study of the Scriptures in the context of the period in which they were written, brings a greater understanding of the biblical narrative and equips the student to “rightly handle the Word of Truth." (1 Timothy 3:16).

Standard Bethel Course

Schedule

The standard Bethel Bible course is offered each Fall and Winter.  There are six units, three that cover the Old Testament (A-C) and three for the New Testament (D-F). City Harvest Church functions on a semester schedule and so we have combined these units to fit into our calendar.

  • We offer a flexible schedule based upon the interest of those registering.
    • Some classes meet during a worship service with the understanding that the students will faithfully attend one of the other corporate services.
    • Other classes meet during the week, on Wednesday evening and on Saturday afternoon.
    • Some classes meet in homes or in Apartment buildings.
  • All CHC members who participate in the Bethel Series are expected to be faithful in their House church. CHC members who are not a part of a House Church are not eligible to attend the Bethel classes.
  • The classes are open to members of other local churches providing they have their pastor’s approval.

No homework is required for the standard Bethel course. We do provide a reading schedule to synchronize Bible reading with the course.

Who Should Take This Series?

The Bethel Series is for you if:

  • You are a Christian (new or long-time): The Word of God is your food. There is no Christian growth and maturity without it.
  • You have a desire to know the Word of God and rightly handle it both for yourself and for others.
  • You are called into leadership as a part of your Destiny and have never had a solid Biblical overview study.
  • You love the Bible and long to be in a study with men and women who are anxious to feed on God’s Word.

If any of these things is true for you and you have a desire to grow in the Word of God, contact the Church office (360-546-1000) or one of our Bethel teachers for a brochure with additional details and testimonies. We look forward to working with you to establish a firm Biblical foundation.

The cost is $16.00 per unit ($32.00 per semester) to cover the cost of materials and handouts.

Intensive Teacher Training Course

Especially designed for those who know they are called to teach the Scriptures or who wish to prepare themselves for leadership and/or five-fold ministry, this class is the approximate equivalent of a three credit hour college course.

One Week "Intensive-Intensive"
  • We have been asked to offer another One Week Teacher Training Class in early to mid August.
    • Only Ordained ministers and Bible School grads may take this course.
    • Cost is $225.00 (the same as the regular Intensive Training Course.
    • Certified Bethel Teachers may attend to review and sharpen their skills.
Two-Year Teacher Training class

Based on interest this class begins in September 2008.

Student requirements include:

  • 6 to 10 hours of study, reading, memorization, and report writing each week.
  • Faithful and on-time attendance is required at the class as it is primarily a lecture format with student interaction.
  • Tests are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the lectures and materials in the student’s life.
  • Classroom presentations by the students prepare them for eventually teaching the congregational phase.
  • Regular and faithful on-time attendance builds character and demonstrates a preparedness to care for God’s children (see 2 Timothy 2:2).
  • The entire course cost is $225.00 and includes the regular Bethel material plus several books and reference works deemed valuable to prepare to teach this Bible Overview course.
