Psalm 8
As the psalmist considers the work of the Lord on the earth he seems to stand in shock. He begins by talking about the majesty of the Lord. Everywhere he looks, whether infant children or the heavens, the majesty of God causes him to stand in awe.
When seen in comparison to the majesty of God the psalmist recognizes that man is small indeed. At second thought he reflects that man also is a creation of God - and the greatest of creation, only a little lower than the angels.
I believe we would have a better perspective if we began with the majesty of God. That puts it all in perspective! We see ourselves and all of creation in God's hand.
"Lord Jesus, grant genuine humility in us by causing each of us to see Your majesty and know you as the creator of all things."
Amen.
