Do you know God? It's no crime if you don't. Personally, I want to know him better. In fact, Eph 1:17 has become one of my favorite recent prayers. Interestingly, all four passages today point to the relationship the characters has with God.
God introduced himself to Isaac as the God of his father, Abraham. Apparently, Isaac was just starting to know God on his own. David says, "Those who know your name will trust in you." I can always tell when I'm not trusting God very well. I get worried or anxious about something in my life. Apparently, I need to know him better. The Proverbs passage assures those who walk with God that he is their shield. It reminds me of another favorite passage. "The Lord God is a sun and shield. The Lord gives grace and glory. He does not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly." (Ps. 84:11) What could be better than knowing that God?! Finally, Jesus himself points out the fact that people often misjudge what he/God is really like and the plan that he is working.
Well I don't know about you but I want to know him better. I find that the more I know him, the more I am at peace and the better I can love others. I'm glad it's not a crime that I have only known him in part. I'm even gladder that he opens the door to a deeper level of relationship with him.
