House Church Structure
City Harvest Church uses the descriptive image of having "Two Wings." This description fits well our theology of Church because we believe God intends both the corporate structure (large group) and the House structure (community). We see this throughout Scripture but especially in Acts 2:46 and Acts 5:42.The home is a very important part of the Biblical pattern of discipleship, training and accountability. It worked well then and it continues to work well today.
Just as an eagle requires two equally strong wings to function as God intended, so also we believe the corporate and the small group (what we refer to as "House Church") have equal weight and importance both for leadership and for members.
We Are Relational
The House Church pastors (leaders who serve with the pastors) are our heroes. They touch people on a personal level and provide a support group, a community that gives safety and strength to their members. City Harvest Church has a "Pass It Up" principle. The House Church leaders work within the overall leadership structure of the congregation. They are not expected to do all of the ministry to the members but provide what they have virtue for and, when they do not have time or training, to refer the member to their leaders.
Leadership
City Harvest Church operates with a "Set Man" principle. At City Harvest Church pastor Robert MacGregor is that man. We believe that God gifts a man with a vision and a call for ministry. Some people refer to this man as the senior pastor. Whatever term you want to use, this man carries the vision and direction for the church.
God adds others to work with him to fulfill the vision. These men will include elders who work with him to give direction and oversight to the church, both business and spiritual direction. Typically a local church will have a variety of five-fold ministers (Ephesians 4:8-12) that God has added to provide quality ministry and training to the saints so that they are fully equipped in their individual ministries.
Zone Pastors
A zone is not a geographical area but a group of leaders who identify with one another relationally. The leader of the zone (zone pastor) is a five-fold minister whose background and training enable him to train leaders to care for the flock of God. He provides both classes, fellowship, training and counseling to those leaders in his care. One group of leaders we call "District Pastors." The District pastors work directly with the House Church pastors. They typically have four to six house churches in their care. They attend the meetings and work directly with the leaders. It is their job to implement the zone pastor's vision and assist him to care for the flock of God.
City Harvest Church curently has four zones. Each of these men are on staff full-time and you can read their biographies on this WEB site.
Each of these men have a specific call and gifting of God that they impart to those working with them. God has blessed us greatly!
We encourage you to be added to one of our House Churches. You will find community, love, and the opportunity for amazing spiritual growth. We pray for and believe God's best for each of you!
